IT Systems Operation and Management

One of the primary tasks of the ITSZ is the operation of strategically important IT systems such as the MyTUM-Portal, TUMonline and SAP. The central IT (ZIT), formerly ZA7, is responsible for this area.

IT Systems and Server Operation

Areas of responsibility of the Operations Team:

  • Operation of the ZV Windows domain including Microsoft Exchange, file and print servers and the Citrix remote desktop environment
  • Basic operation of the SAP R/3 system
  • Operation of the ZV network and external connectivity
  • ZV hardware equipment and software applications
  • Management of the ZV user access and user accounts
  • Operation of the central student and examination administration systems

Campus Management/TUMonline

Another important activity of the ITSZ is the Campus Management area, which is divided into two organizational units:

  • The discipline-specific tasks in this area are the responsibility of the Campus Management Team.
  • Technical support is overseen by the Campus Management IT team from the operations area. 

Campus Management Team

The Campus Management Team has responsibility for the coordination, optimization and documentation of TUMonline processes in close collaboration with the Process Management & Statistics Unit of the SSZ and the TUM chairs, departments and schools.

  • Identification of TUMonline enhancements, including support during implementation. Consulting, coordination and support services to TUM schools and departments and TUMonline key users when implementing enhancements.
  • Configuration, application management and support related to the on-going operation of the TUMonline system
  • On-going database analyses
  • SPO modeling
  • Data exchange with other universities and application systems
  • Support for the TUM legacy systems CoPrA/FlexNow!, HISSOS-GX and HISPOS-GX

Campus Management IT Team

The Campus Management IT Team maintains responsibility for operating and managing the following areas: 

  • TUMonline
  • End-of-Life (EoL) CM systems HIS SOS, HIS POS, HIS ZUL and HIS QIS
  • Firewall and VPN systems
  • ZV network
  • d.3 document management system
  • TUMcard systems
  • Wide range of smaller systems in areas such as mailing, proxy services,  web services, databases and system management

Team WWW & Online Services (Operation of MyTUM Portal)

The WWW & Online Services Team develops and operates MyTUM, the central student and employee portal.

TYPO3

The TYPO3 Team operates the central TUM TYPO3 web content management system. 

It supports TUM web presences by 

  • preparing TYPO3 instances upon request
  • providing website consulting, support and training services

SAP

The SAP Team is responsible for the operation of the SAP R/3-based business-oriented accounting system that was introduced in 2002. This includes operation and management of the business warehouse systems for generating university statistics.
