Servers

The Leibniz Computing Center (LRZ) offers a wide range of server services.

Server Housing & Cluster Node Housing

LRZ offers monitored operation, or so-called attended housing, of proprietary Linux servers or Linux clusters that are housed in the LRZ computing center. LRZ is responsible for the hardware and the maintenance of the operating system while the client is responsible for the application.

Virtual Windows and Linux Servers

TUM offers highly-available virtual server instances that are housed in a high-security section of the LRZ computing center. Depending on the desired operating system (SLES/Debian/Windows Server), LRZ also handles the installation, maintenance and day-to-day operation.

Windows Server Update Service (WSUS)

The LRZ offers the use of MS Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) for Windows computers of the MWN.

LRZ Compute Cloud

The LRZ Compute Cloud is designed as an Infrastructure-as-a-Service offering based on the OpenNebula open source solution. Compute Cloud is a flexible, simple and fast way to adapt computing resources dur-ing potential peak loads.

Server certificates

In cooperation with the Deutsches Forschungsnetz (DFN) TUM provides certificates for servers and data processing systems.
