Protect your smartphone against unauthorized access
To protect your mobile devices against unauthorized access and manipulation, never leave them unattended.
Set up and activate a screen lock. If you lose your smartphone or leave it briefly unattended, this will keep someone from quickly accessing your data. In this case, there are a variety of options, from passwords, pins and patterns, to face unlock (face recognition).
Install all updates. Security updates are developed and made available for all types of devices, whether Android, iPhone, Blackberry or Windows.
Think twice about giving out your mobile phone number.
Deactivate services that are not required, such as Bluetooth, WiFi and GPS. This will keep your smartphone from being scanned externally for vulnerabilities, overcurious apps will learn less about your location and the battery will also operate longer.
Caution is advised when utilizing open WiFi networks. You will find additional information and tips in the "Secure connectivity underway" section.
