Can I set up a fully public (web) download directory? What is www-public?

You can request the establishment of a fully public directory on your organization's storage area through IT Support. The directory is always named "www-public".

The stored files can be directly linked and do not require a login when downloading from a browser. Permission to write to this directory must be configured by the organization's local administrator.

The download link is only available to the local administrator. It looks like "https://webdisk.ads.mwn.de/Handlers/AnonymousDownload.ashx?folder=XXXXX" for browsing the folder and "https://webdisk.ads.mwn.de/Handlers/AnonymousDownload.ashx?folder=XXXXX&path=pfad%5Czur%5Cdatei.txt" for a particular file. It is highly recommended to store the link to the folder inside a textfile placed into www-public so it won't get lost. Only the LRZ servicedesk is otherwise able to recover the link (parameter XXXXX).
