What Is Eduroam and How Can I Use It?

eduroam is an international initiative of the higher educational institutions, to provide a uniform way for academics and students to connect to the internet via WLAN/Wi-Fi, even whilst they are traveling.

In Munich eduroam can be used at the university locations and at several public spaces in the city center, e.g. main station, Marienplatz, Stachus, ...

Eduroam at TUM

At TUM, eduroam is available in all lecture halls, practice rooms and common areas such as libraries and cafeterias, as well as in some office spaces. For several reasons, 100 percent coverage is unfortunately not available. (Further information for students and employees)

If you are familiar with any areas where students tend to congregate in groups and where eduroam is not available, please write to us at it-support@tum.de. We will determine if we can make access available in this area.

Secure eduroam installation

For a secure installation, it's imperative that you utilize the Leibniz Supercomputing Center (LRZ) configuration profiles. Manual configurations harbor serious security risks for your user data, such as making your password vulnerable to theft.

In the dokumentation Wiki you can find detailed installation manuals for Android, iOS, macOS and Windows.
