Tips for protecting your password

Your password should be known to you alone

  • Never give your password to another person.

Memorize your passwords or use a password-manager

  •  Memorize your passwords. Your brain is the only place where they are completely safe.
  • If you are using to many paswords you can store them in software like Keepass (recomended by the BSI).

Use as many different passwords as possible

  • Use differnt passwords for different services.
  • A clear distinction between business and private passwords is highly recommende.

Write them down?

If you write your passwords down somewhere:

  • never store them unencrypted on a computer connected to a network
  • never write them down together with the user ID
  • modify the passwords in such a way that only you can understand.
