Additional security tips for underway

These things you should keep in mind (not only) when travelling

Password protection for all devices and user accounts

Secure the user accounts for your laptop and smartphone with a password.

Do not leave devices unattended

Never leave your devices unattended when you are underway. They can quickly disappear or be infected with malware.

Be careful with public-access computers

Never enter sensitive data

Avoid entering passwords for important accounts or accessing confidential information when using public-access computers, such as in a hotel or Internet cafe. The computer could contain malware or be used to capture data like your passwords.

Cover your tracks

Before you leave the computer:

  • empty the recycle bin
  • delete the browser history and cookies
  • close all programs and log out - if possible

Be careful with unknown USB sticks

If you receive a USB stick as a gift or you find one lying around, it might contain malware. The best advice is: Never plug it in before having a professional test it.
